If you haven’t heard of Dr. Kiona and How Not To Travel Like a Basic B*tch… let me educate you. Dr. Kiona is a social justice warrior and writes super informative content about issues that don’t make it to mainstream media - just give her Instagram a quick lookover and you’ll see what I’m talking about. She also works tirelessly to travel the world “spotlighting different cultures and uplifts marginalized voices, while inspiring people to travel mindfully. As an academic, her mission has always been to deliver education through travel in a digestible and accessible way.” And WOW can she curate an incredible trip. I was fortunate to spend 5 days in Cuba on one of she and Rita’s (Travel Like a Cuban) incredible experiences before the COVID-19 pandemic and I’m grateful for that last opportunity to travel, dance, experience the incredible culture of Cuba, and meet new people face-to-face before the quarantine hit.
